Fees & FAQs for Rachel Neporent Therapy
FEES & INSURANCE INFORMATION
Individual therapy session: $250 for a 50-minute session.
Free 25-min consultation: Available via phone or Zoom.
Insurance: I do not accept insurance. I provide every client with a “superbill," an invoice that contains all necessary billing codes and information needed if you choose to explore out-of-network reimbursement through your provider.
Why should I choose private pay therapy?
One question I often get during consultations is what the benefits of private pay therapy are for you, the client. One of the biggest benefits is simply having more freedom and flexibility in your therapy. Without insurance, you generally don't need a formal mental health diagnosis or have your treatment dictated by your insurance company's requirements.
Instead, we can focus on what you actually want support with and I can draw from the approaches I believe will be most helpful for you. It also gives us the flexibility to let therapy evolve naturally as your needs change, rather than being limited by a predetermined treatment plan or session cap. For many of my clients, that freedom makes it possible to create a therapy experience that feels much more personal and truly tailored to them.

Getting Started
-
Everyone is different when it comes to their mental health. But generally speaking, you might benefit from therapy if you find yourself overthinking constantly, feeling more anxious or more overwhelmed than usual, struggling with your relationships or having a hard time setting boundaries and expressing what you need.
Maybe you're feeling stuck in the same patterns that you just can’t seem to change, despite trying. Maybe you’re being unusually hard on yourself or you just have that gut feeling that something isn't quite right even though you can't put your finger on exactly what it is.
You don't need to have a label/diagnosis or a clearly defined problem to start therapy. Sometimes, the feeling that you want things to be different is reason enough to reach out. And we can just go from there!
-
Not at all! In fact, it’s actually better if you don’t wait until things feel completely overwhelming before reaching out. Therapy can be incredibly helpful as a preventative and supportive space where you can work through challenges before they ever become a crisis. You can come to therapy simply because you want to understand yourself better, make a change or have some support as you navigate a new season of life.
-
Finding the right therapist is a really personal decision and I know how hard it can be to find somebody you click with. The truth is you don’t really know until you actually talk to someone. That's why I offer a complimentary 25-minute consultation. It's a chance for you to tell me a little about what you're looking for, ask any questions you have and get a feel for what it might be like to work with me. There's absolutely no pressure to commit during the consultation either. You can take some time afterward to decide whether it feels like the right fit.
-
The free consultation can take place on the phone or on a Zoom call - depending on what you prefer!
-
Whatever you'd like! You might want to ask about my approach, my past experience, the types of issues I work with, what sessions typically look like or anything else you're curious or nervous about. You definitely don't need to come prepared with a list of questions, though. If you're not sure what to ask, that's completely okay. We can simply talk about what's bringing you to therapy and take it from there.
-
I tend to work especially well with women who are curious about themselves and open to looking a little deeper at the patterns, relationships and experiences that have shaped them. You don't need to have everything figured out or know exactly what you want from therapy. What matters most to me is making sure you feel comfortable and safe to explore yourself and the changes you desire!
-
That's completely normal! And of course, you are not the only person to feel that way! You don't have to come into therapy knowing how to talk about your feelings or be ready to share everything right away. My job is to make you feel comfortable enough to share about your experiences, both small and big. We'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, and over time, my hope is that you'll feel increasingly safe being honest and completely yourself.
-
That's more than okay! It’s never on you to have to carry the responsibility of knowing what to say every minute of the session. You don't need to arrive with an agenda or know exactly what you're going to talk about. Sometimes, maybe we’ll start with what's been happening in your week. Other times, I'll ask questions about you to help guide the conversation based on what we've been working on together. Therapy is a collaborative process, so we'll always figure it out together.

My path to becoming a therapist was deeply personal. I know what it’s like to do the work of facing old wounds, unlearning outdated belief systems and beginning the slow process of showing up for yourself differently. My own experiences in therapy as well as an innate interest in why we are the way we are is what ultimately led me to becoming the therapist I am today.
As a result, I’ve made it my mission to help women in Los Angeles & California create that same kind of life-changing transformation within themselves, that therapy and self-work allowed for me.
-
My approach to therapy is holistic and integrative. That means I like to use a variety of different types of approaches. You can check out a little more info on each of them here:
Psychodynamic Therapy
Relational Therapy
Attachment-Based Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Narrative-Based Therapy
Mindfulness & Somatic-Based TherapyMy goal is never to fit you into one particular therapeutic model. It's to draw from the approaches that are most helpful for you when they are needed so we can achieve holistic healing on all levels.
-
I would say a little bit of both and this is also directed by how you work best. Some sessions might feel more free-form and others more solution oriented and goal-directed depending on what you need. We will always come back to the goals, the change, the impact you desire, this always guides our work.
-
I do! Some clients love journal prompts or behavioral goals between sessions and I am happy to provide these.
-
My typical approach is to meet you where you are! We start by getting to know each other and we move (kinda like a dance) between what is coming up in the present time, and what your history is and how it is impacting you. I am gentle, in the sense that, I approach therapy with love, with care, with kindness and I am direct in that, I do my best to show up honestly and challenge you where needed.
-
Absolutely! Some clients want a gentler approach and perhaps need this when we start our work together and later on may want more direct feedback. I am always here to check-in in regards to what is and is not working in our therapeutic relationship. I am here for you, so if you ever want to change our approach, our flow, I am here to discuss how we can make therapy more supportive, and successful for you.

FAQS
What To Expect
-
Clients often start with 1x/week but I meet with clients bi-weekly as well.
-
Each session is 50 minutes.
-
We chat! A first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, to discuss history but also discuss what is happening in the present! My priority in a first session is for you to feel comfortable!
-
Yes and no! We only talk about what you are ready to talk about.
-
This is person dependent and is always a conversation. Many of my clients are seeking long-term therapy. However, we are always in communication and can discuss how many sessions feel supportive if you are looking for shorter term treatment.
-
Yes, but this is really up to you. I will always offer suggestions for journal exercises, or practices, activities to try between sessions.
-
By what your life looks like! Are you meeting your goals? Do you feel better?
Additionally, based on what you are seeking therapy for, and your treatment goals. We track your progress in the reduction of your symptoms.
-
We always check in before we end the session and discuss how to support you as you move through the rest of your day. We will be supporting you with coping skills to access/utilize if you notice yourself feeling upset after therapy. Having feelings after sessions is not a bad thing, it often means you are doing the work :)
-
Yes, you can always email me! And I will return the email as soon as possible.
