About My Therapeutic Approach

Psychotherapy for Young Adults, Adults, Couples, and Families

I provide psychotherapy to California residents who would like to explore healing and growth around trauma, anxiety, and relationships. I specialize in the treatment of relational trauma, anxiety symptoms and stress, relationship challenges, and attachment issues.

I am passionate about working with clients who are self-explorers, question askers, and have a profound desire to increase their personal wellbeing. Through our mindful, intentional work together, we will help you develop self-understanding and self-compassion, improve your relationship to self and others, build self-esteem and self-worth, challenge perfectionism and people pleasing tendencies, learn to set healthy boundaries, and build coping skills.

Commonly Used Therapeutic Modalities

Psychodynamic Therapy

This therapeutic perspective focuses on the root, or core, of emotional struggle. Self-reflection and examination are large elements of this perspective. Through the exploration of previous life events, patterns of functioning, and emotional response, this lens can help to increase self-understanding and, ideally, healing.

Relational Therapy

Relational therapy is an approach to psychotherapy that highlights the importance of relationships in understanding and treating mental health issues. This therapeutic model views human development and psychological wellbeing through the lens of interpersonal connections and how individuals relate to others. This modality encourages the exploration of relational patterns in order to develop healthier connections and enhance overall well-being.

Attachment Theory

This theory is based on the idea that the relationship with a primary caregiver is essential to our experience in relationship with self and others throughout our lives. Attachment theory explores an individual's experience in childhood, as well as the way in which they currently attach, connect, and feel in relationships. A goal of using this lens is to better understand yourself in relationship to others, and hopefully establish, reinforce, and explore self-security and healthy relationships.

Narrative Therapy

This is a form of psychotherapy that emphasizes a client’s experience, and the stories one develops and carries with them through their life. A goal of narrative therapy is to help individuals embrace that they are the expert, or the main character in their own lives. This form of therapy assists clients in recognizing core values and skills so that they can live their life in accordance with their values, inner-being, and goals.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Through this lens, we explore the way in which thoughts impact our feelings, and in turn behaviors. CBT looks at the cycle of these three factors and attempts to clarify thoughts, challenge distortions and maladaptive behaviors. In addition, CBT focuses on the development of coping skills and strategies to face current challenges.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy and therefore has similarities to CBT. A main principle of DBT is learning how to live in the present moment as well as finding healthy ways of coping with stress and/or challenges. DBT assists in regulating emotions through new skills. DBT also focuses on improving relationships.
