Let’s Define Trauma and Explore Trauma Healing
Trauma refers to a psychological, emotional, or physical response to an event or series of events that impact an individual. Traumas are known to be distressing or disturbing.
Traumatic events may be experienced as life-threatening, harmful, and unmanageable, and they impact an individual’s coping skills or general well-being.
Trauma can be an experience of (but is not limited to the following):
Physical injury or physical harm
Emotional or psychological distress
Medical challenges, sickness
War/conflict/natural disasters
Trauma can give rise to Anxiety, Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), among other mental health challenges.
Every individual responds differently to the traumas they've experienced. Because of this, everyone’s needs following distressing experiences will be different.
Therapy is an invaluable tool to both explore and validate the feelings, needs, and challenges that arise following traumatic experiences.
